In this episode, host Paul Collins chats with Patrick Mullins, a renowned jockey who was bred for success in the racing industry, being a son of former top amateur rider and multiple Champion National Hunt trainer Willie Mullins.

 

Patrick talks about his upbringing in a family that lives and breathes the sport, and  his destined journey to becoming a successful jockey. After getting an impressive 800 wins under his belt, Mullins declares that his next big goal is reaching 1,000!

 

Later Paul talks to Steward Michael O'Donoghue, a racing enthusiast who discusses his 40 years of experience on the Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board. He shares the behind-the-scenes work that goes into regulating races and ensuring fair competition, and reflects on the nostalgic memories of his time at Galway Races as he faces his upcoming retirement.
